The objective of Special Projects is to render support to the
community and also run special community projects in our
                                          community.

YMaD special projects successes:

YMaD ran a Food and Clothing drive throughout the year to help the less fortunate in our community. During the first part of the year, our focus was on the winter season. We collected warm winter clothes and blankets. During the second part of the year, we successfully focused on collecting toiletries and food parcels.

On the 10th of May 2008, YMaD hosted a Teachers Appreciation Breakfast at the Eersterust Civic Centre for +- 150 teachers from the Eersterust Primary and Secondary Schools. In partnership with the Concerned Parents Association of Eersterust and members of the community, who donated breakfast ingredients and cash donations, we were able to declare this project an outstanding success. The purpose of the breakfast was to show appreciation to our teachers for the work that they are doing and the role that they play in the development of our youth.

Hosting the Kids Christmas Party has become a tradition of YMaD, but several other organisations and families hosted similar parties, YMaD decided not to duplicate the parties but to work together with the organisations and families in 2009 to make the Christmas Party even bigger and better for the Kids. The purpose of this project is to also to give children love and show them the “REAL” meaning of Christmas.

We assisted the CPF-Youth Desk in conducting the various campaigns:

1. Regular CPF meetings on intervention strategies and preventions during the year,
2. Athletes in Action sports prevention campaigns,
3. Annual June 16 remembrance service and sports fun day extravaganza,
4. “State of Emergency” community participation meeting,
5. “Senseless Killings” community participation meeting,
6. IDASA audit on “violent crimes” in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), 7. AARTO campaign was launched in Eersterust – Tshwane, and 8. CPF Information Sharing Campaign for community participation.
